In business, social networking sites have become priceless to anyone wanting to create a exposure to their website, products, or services. It has replaced the door-to-door salesperson and by creating a persuasive business profile, you can draw people in by joining social groups with like interests. Let’s examine a few of the many, many social networking sites available on the Internet today.
Facebook: Originally started for college students to keep in touch with classmates on campus, check homework assignments, contact their Professors, etc. Now Facebook has evolved into a social networking giant for business owners. It is a great way to connect with other entrepreneurs and potential customers. Facebook is free and every registered member gets a homepage to place a profile and add applications, such as a blog or calendar of events.
Myspace: Not just for the teens any longer! Myspace has become a magnet for the entertainment industry. Musical artists can upload their video and music CDs directly on their Myspace page. Like Facebook, Myspace is also a free site.
Twitter: You are asked “What are you doing?” and you have 140 characters in which to answer that question. This is what is called a micro-blog. Twitter has become increasingly popular over the last year and basically replaces texting from your cell phone.
Businesses have found a way to make Twitter work to their advantage,
by advertising a new blog post, a product, or an upcoming event. Warning: Twitter can become addicting and may be the cause of an intervention. Use extreme cautious!
If you are a social networking fanatic, you understand the importance of implementing it with your business to build everlasting relationships. Business owners can get great satisfaction and increased sales simply by devoting a few hours to networking. New applications are launching on a daily basis to make social networking more productive.
So take advantage of every opportunity to network with like-minded business owners, potential new customers, and find some old friends along the way. So I ask, “what are you doing?” Hopefully following me on Twitter. If not, you can follow me at http://Twitter.com/voicetalent
