Are you confident when you speak to others? Are you comfortable speaking to a group of people? Being a professional voice over artist will depend in part on your level of  confidence and power when speaking to others.

Seriously folks – if you don’t feel confident in this area – developing your speaking-confidence is another way you can dramatically improve your broadcasting-voice!

The good news is you don’t have to start out speaking in front of a large audience (or any audience for that matter). Just as with developing your vocal and reading abilities, the key here is to PRACTICE! Start by imagining that you are speaking with (or to) a group of people. Stand in front of a mirror  and confidently speak to yourself, as if you were the one in the mirror.

Practice by explaining a process that you are familiar with – it could be anything (how to cook a dish, how to iron a shirt, how to change the oil in your car). The important factor here is that  you just practice

It’s okay to make a fool of  yourself, in fact that’s how you know you are getting better. Don’t let your  fear or insecurities get in the way of becoming a good vocal artist! Let yourself “be comfortable being uncomfortable” pretending to speak with others – doing this repeatedly will make it easier and easier over time.

When you do a professional voice over, it’s just like speaking to a group of people – LOTS of people – because that’s how many will hear your performance!

Watch for my next *Voice Over Tip*  where I will be sharing more about the technical aspects of recording a good voice over!

Until then – keep practicing! wink smile Voice Over Training 3
