If you plan on promoting yourself as a voice over artist in the modern world – it’s almost imperative that you have some kind of website to  showcase your skills…

There are many different ways for you to approach creating a website for yourself, you can hire someone to do it for you, ask a friend to help you do it, or do it yourself.

You can create a completely FREE website using some resources I will mention on this page, or you can invest some money to get a more professional page designed.

When starting out – at the very least, the free option is very nice to have for displaying your talent to the world.

Assuming you already have some type of demo developed using one of the techniques I discussed in the last lesson: Recording Your Voice Over – you will also need to have a website.

If you don’t have any money to  invest – hear are 3  FREE options I recommend that you can use to create your own voice-talent website:

Create an account and experiment with using these free resources to create a few webpages that have your photo, a bio, and a list of the projects you have worked on at the very least.

And MOST IMPORTANTLY  you gotta have some examples of your voice over work posted as well. I use a tool called Audio Generator for the audio on my sites – it’s fast, easy to use, looks good and doesn’t clog up my web server because it streams the audio snippets from it’s own server.

If you decide that you want your website to be designed by someone else, these are few places that you can look to find a designer:

You can expect to spend anywhere from $200-$1000 to have a professionally designed site – be sure to ask your potential designer for
plenty of examples of their work – as well as references
.

The 3rd option for web design – is DESIGN IT YOURSELF!

The first thing you will need if you are going to design your own website is a web hosting account… These are my 2 favorite
options:

  • Web.com – (Built In design-tools) I use this service to easily design, add, and remove elements from my site (without having to write any html code).

  • Hostgator.com – (No “self design” tools) – but this is a Rock-Solid hosting service for less than 7 bucks per month that I use to host
another one of my sites with.

Designing a website is beyond the scope of this article, but if you are really interested in doing it yourself, there is a TON of information
out there on the subject.

In summary – if you seriously want to be a professional voice over artist, you are going to have a website to showcase your abilities. This can be a free website or you can invest in the tools or talents to get a more elaborate site design.

Either way it’s a definite step towards getting the kind of gigs that will make you money!
