Very interesting to see what a real session consists of. It gives you a very good idea of what to expect if you really want to get into this business. It’s amazing to see how in about 40 minutes the backbone of a commercial was created and more so, over the internet. Realistically speaking, at what “stage” of one’s voice over career is an opportunity like this to be expected?

Hey everyone!

Thanks for the great comments. The session was communicated over Skype but we were both recording into our software. I have a USB powered mixer, so it is easy to do that.

Hi I listened to your session with rehearsal and it sounded great. The script seems to be a bit brief. I think Meineke misses out by offering a contest for a million bucks when they could get more business by lowering their oil change price for six months. I do not think a contest will lure real business. The contest should be an extra. The script might need adjustment in my opinion. The script is their call not yours correct? Other than that it was a very good reading.

I am also interested in your answer to Silvio’s question above. ( “the voices were recorded through an ISDN line and the chat occured over Skype?”) And if so, has skype become somewhat of a chat standard?

I really liked the way there was such a collaborative effort as this script came to life, with so many adaptations and nuances of the inflections making a subtle shift of meaning to the listener. Thanks for recording and sharing this session, Terry!
